The Buddha

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not
believe simply because it has been handed down for many
generations. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken
and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is
written in Holy Scriptures. Do not believe in anything merely on the
authority of Teachers, elders or wise men. Believe only after careful
observation and analysis, when you find that it agrees with reason
and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all. Then accept
it and live up to it.” ~~Buddha

Into the Forest Green

Sitting in the darkness
Coffin lid slammed shut
Screaming at the top of my lungs
But no one can hear

All of this is lies
Filling up your head
Religion and opium numbs you
So nothing else is said

I tell you...you are free
I tell you..you are free
Living in the past
Of someone else's decree

Walk out of your darkness
Into the forest green
And you will find your true Lover
She will greet you in the trees

Yes, Greet you in the trees
Ancient groves and rock hewn rings
Dancing in the darkness
Beneath the silver moon filled sky

We are one with Nature
There is no divide

Entombed in your own sin
You made up in your head
Just let it all go
In the silence, you'll hear it said

Dance with me, yeah dance with Me
I will show you the path..to Ecstasy
Togetherness and Love
No shame filled hearts

Just Humans being Humans
It's where it all starts
Afraid to be yourselves
But you know it in your hearts

She has a thousand names
But I know Her as one
Searching deep into my heart
Mother on my lips..and She says "Son"

SACRED PRAYER

Thank you O' Wonderous and Creative God,
Who in thy Wisdom hath planted Thy Sacred and Divine herbs, fungi, and cactus upon this Earth.

Lord, Please protect thy peasant workers as they pick thy coca and support theirs families with thy daily bread.  May You increase their harvest and protect the men and women who bring it to America so that we may drink our Coca-Cola and fill the nostrils and crack pipes of all your people across America.

Thank You, O'God, for Thy wonderously Divine mushrooms, cacti and roots that you planted all upon the earth that enable us to truly transcend ourselves and see You.  Protect them as they grow from the tyrants upon the earth who desire to extinguish Thy Wisdom.

Lord God, protect thy peasant growers in Mexico who grow Your sacred weed, marijuana, although persecuted and martyred in the last 50 years, may their blood cry out and protect those who risk their life and limb so that we may taste thy sacred, noble weed and know that You are Good.

I thank You, O'Lord, that although the enemy spends trillions of dollars to stop the spread of thy wisdom, he/she also spends trillions of dollars to gain a piece of thy sacred wisdom and in this, I am satisfied.

May Mary of Guadalupe continue to protect my brown brothers and sisters and may You, O'Lord, fill their countries with a flush of American dollars that they may arm themselves in protection from the evil tyrant who persecutes them.  May You hide and protect their routes from the eyes of the enemy and Lord, May Thy Glorious Divine wisdom be spread about Thy earth and heavens.

Amen

Hear the Song

Swirling mass of burning light
Triple Monad in delight
Creation force eternally sustains
Into the drops of my Father's rain

Universal harmony I do hear
A symphony of stars and planets steer
Singing out...Let it be
We are alive and sing the song

Forgetting the sound of the eternal song
I run to the comfort of that five sided fistagon
Forging my weapons
To subdue my own brothers and sisters

By blood and might I take the land
In blindness I make my stand
The earth does tremble, the earth does tremble
As my bombs burst and destroy all

To the brink of rabid dublicity
I destroy what I love in simplicity
Face to face I stand with my enemy
And all I can think is to Kill, is to Kill

Wake up, Wake up, Wake up!
Before all is lost
This is our Father's world
And His song cries out in the throbbing heartbeat of Love

In the cave of darkness deep
I find the crystals where the song does keep
Cast them out from the castle wall
And they cry out with the eternal song

Love one another
Have compassion for one another
Beat your swords into plowshares and your spears into pruning forks
And love Me.......for we are One

Musings on History

When one begins to study history, one thinks that there is a set body of information that you can read all of and grasp the depths of understanding, yet history is basically an illusion made up of stories and myths that change as soon as we discover something greater to expand our knowledge, which in turn, reshapes our world view and understanding of many things.  Basically, if you study deep enough you will find that we truly know very little about our past and what we do know is in a constant flux of discovery and rediscovery. Yet, so much is lost, waiting to be rediscovered and reawakened.  Each new discovery truly changes everything and we have to weed through the fact that most of recorded history is accounted to the Victors of each great physical, intellectual, and Spiritual battle and we are left to sift through the dust of these battles and find out what really happened and how did we get from that moment to now.  So, in other words the quest to understand history is not some place we finally arrive but it is a quest of epic proportions that will encompass your entire life.  If you are set in your desire to study the past be ready to be broken millions of times, mentally, spiritually, psychologically, as you walk upon your journey of discovery, you will be remade, reshaped many a times over.  You must get beyond the fear of launching off into uncharted territory and beyond the fear of the fact that you really do not know as much as you think you do, but I do believe that each of us have in our heart's the deep questions;  Where do I come from?  Who am I? and where am I going?  and it is this trinity of questions that fuels our quest.

If they say to you, 'Where do you come from?' Say, 'We come from the light;  the place where the light first came into being...' If they say to you, 'Who are you?'  Say, 'We are the children of the light and we are the chosen of the Living Father.' If they ask you, 'What is the sign of your Father in you?  Say to them, 'Movement and rest'

Blog revamp and an invitation...

Hello and welcome to the revamp of my into the wild blog.  I chose the new name for two reasons, first in honor of a great friend of mine and her reintroduction of an ancient word into our modern vocabulary..perichoresis.  In the eighth century the last of the Greek Patriarchs of the Church,  John of Damascus, wrote some deep theology, and part of what he is best known for was his explanation of the Trinity.  He coined the phrase “perichoresis.”  “Peri” means “around,” and “Choresis” means “movement,” and from which we get the word “Choreography.” John said, “There is a divine dance that takes place in the center of God, where Father, Son, and Spirit move around each other, serve each other, give themselves to each other, and each know their part and live it out as fully as possible.”  This concept of perichoresis was soon translated into the phrase, “Divine Dance.” And this great friend of mine has imparted this dance into all of our lives in so many ways that she has no idea of.  The second reason for the name is that I was genetically tested in October of 2009 and found to have the genetic marker for Huntington's Chorea, a progressive neurodegenerative genetic disorder, which affects muscle coordination and leads to cognitive decline, involuntary movement, and dementia. In May of this year I went to the Neurologist and was diagnosed with early symptoms and placed on disability. So for me the irony in the title is that Chorea in greek means..to dance, whether voluntarily or involuntarily and in my case you really can't tell the difference anyway :)

For me, this is an invitation to you to join me on my ever expanding circle of life.  I am a mystic because I feel the presence of God,  I am a poet because I celebrate that presence of God in all of life, and I am a scientist constantly searching and striving to find answers and meaning in every aspect of life and in this I am being made whole. So,  I leave you with a quote from one of my favorites Meister Eckhart:  Apprehend God in all things, for God is in all things.  Every single creature is full of God and is a book about God.  Every creature is a word of God.  If I spent enough time with the tiniest creature--even a caterpillar--I would never have to prepare a sermon.  So full of God is every creature.  For, God is at home;  it is we who have gone out for a walk.

thank you caring....Tim

SAVOR-My Father's Day Psalm

Savor each moment as a Golden thread
Savor your heartbeat, savor your bed
Savor the air provided for free
Savor the green leaves of a beautiful tree
Savor the flowers dancing for you
Savor your family because they love you true
Savor your place in this living Cosmos
Savor your wisdom learned by Osmos
Savor your Father and Mother still here
Savor their presence if gone yet still near
Savor all things your Creator does make
Savor your food whether little or steak
And in the end while at the bank
Your only deposit needed is to say "THANKS!"

Thank you Father for your intrinsic web that surrounds
Thank you Father for all you do without a sound
Thank you for eros and love and ongoing creation
Thank you for silence, for time and vacation
Your encircling arms do enfold around me
And You love me I know and set my heart free

If the only prayer you say in your whole life is "thank you" that would suffice--Meister Eckhart

Wolf Dreams

Before coming up here to Alaska I was stressing out about what type of weapons I would need and about the trip in general, and that night I had a dream where I saw a large wolf standing in front of me and voice said "Do not worry, for the wolf will protect you". I thought it quite strange, yet it was in a sense reassuring. I was unaware of what exactly that mean but I did some research on wolves and I found it quite interesting. I pulled this from a sacred dreams website:

Today, the wolf represents all that which is wild and free. They call us to the last retreats of our vanishing wilderness, where their songs carry on the wind, a wild defiant sorrow.

Roaming where few men dare, wolves pierce the silence with their powerful song. The howl begins low and melodious. The sound is lonely, haunting, surreal; as if the voices of our ancestors were howling through the canyons.

Soon, the ridges resound with the chorus of a wolf pack on the prowl. Then, as the last note descends, it is quiet, as the winds whisper like spirits of ancient times.

Remember that sound and treasure it. It is as old as time, wild as the wind and as poetic as moonlight on snow. It is the trademark of the wolf.

And then this from another website that I found most interesting in my own personal journey right now:

Animals are powerful teachers that frequently appear in our dreams or our daily activities, providing us with insight, companionship, and subtle messages. Understanding these signals necessitates humility and the ability to be in touch with one's intuitiveness.

A dynamic animal of the great kingdom of creatures is the wolf. Referred to as the teacher and pathfinder of new ideas; the wolf has an enormous sense of family, as well as a strong individualistic drive. These traits would seem to to make the wolf quite similar to the human race. In the terrific guide book accompanying Medicine Cards (Bear & Co.), authors Jamie Sams and David Carson describe wolf medicine as "empowering the teacher within us all to come forth and aid the children of Earth in understanding the Great Mystery and life. As you feel wolf coming alive within you, you may wish to share your knowledge by writing or lecturing on information that will help others better understand their uniqueness or path of life".

And instantly after I read this for the first time I thought back to my first encounter with a wolf, we were living in Colorado in 1989-1990 when I was in the Army and Michelle, Travis and I were way up in the mountains in our Mitsubishi Precis. We were up a old mining trail by St. Mary's Glacier and I had just gotten back in from going to the bathroom. I looked out my driver's side glass and standing face to face almost was a large gray, white and black wolf. His face was almost eye level and he just sat there staring. He didn't attack or move, but I eased the car in 1st gear and drove down the mountain and we were all just silent. I remember it as clear as day to this moment...

So, I invite you in to my strangeness. I do not know what it all means but it is why I have attached the picture of the wolf/man ornament that I saw today at the Alaskan Native Center. It struck a chord and resonated within me, yet I don't fully know why. If someone else out there has some insight, let me know...

peace, Tim

Bum

Beware of him whom you cast the eye
Because in a moment, it could be I
Everything we hold dear
Lost in an instance
Of mortal failure
And human insistence

So if you see the one called bum at 5am
Shuffling your eyes like we don't see um
Go about your day and never guess his troubles
But in that look his pain does double

Less than human he does feel
wondering how to get a meal
No one cares about his trouble
Don't want to pile on theirs and make it double

But in the moments of human heart
To share a cell phone or cigarette mark
And in the depths you will see
That we are the same, you and me

Why Alaska?

Why would a 40 year old out of shape man, desire to trek 5000 miles to Alaska? What is it that cries out within his heart? Alaska, it is a vast land full of rocky coastlines, enormous mountain ranges, mosquito filled tundra as far as the eye can see. Glaciers calfing into the deep blue ocean projecting enormous icebergs. It is a deep green sea of pines splaying out as far as the eye can see. It is a land filled with wonder, filled with awe and filled with danger. Where a man or woman can be tested in the fullness of their being, and it is for this that I long for. It is, in a sense, like the One who created it Himself, God. To vast for any one man to contain, to dangerous to traverse alone, for in Alaska we are not at the top of the food chain. It is something so much larger than myself and truthfully it is a manifestation of all man's and women's longing for God Himself and our answer to our eternal prayer, Let your Kingdom come on earth as it is in Heaven.

So, I invite you into the depths of my adventure, on my Dream quest to find my soul, to find myself, to test my self to the depths of my being and to hopefully find "what it is that I'm looking for!" Which is ultimately God Himself. To discover the wonder of His creation and perhaps through my own feeble efforts to feel something deep in your own Spirit rising up...it is THE CALL OF THE WILD!, welcome it with warm, inviting arms and you never know where the Spirit will lead you...

Tim
